Catch the Moment 2018 ~ Week 34

This week started out with smoke filling the air, from the rampant wildfires to the East and North of us. These fires seem more and more common each year, and honestly, it just weighs on me so much thinking about the potential implications of what this could mean for our future. The air quality index was anywhere from 190 – 220, rated worse than the air in some of the world’s most polluted cities, like Beijing. Headlines read Breathing Seattleā€™s air right now is like smoking 7 cigarettes.

Photos showing the thickness of the smoke were unreal. I just don’t ever want this to be our new normal. It’s so sad and scary.

Luckily, we got some rain, things calmed down some, and the air quality improved. Best of all, we got some awesome visitors, and had some awesome celebrations! So the week improved greatly during the last half! Here are the photos ~

Mon, Aug 20 ~ the skies turned yellow from the smoke and the sun and its reflection look really red. It was eerie.

Luckily, these two cute fellas were there to entertain me and take my mind off the smoke-pocalypse.

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 25

It was the last week of school for Homer, the start of Summer Vacation, the start of Summer itself, and a lot of just regular life stuff! Take a look ~

Mon, June 18 ~ Homer really wanted to go to the arcade at the neighborhood bowling alley after school. The employee said the ticket counter was broken and we’d have to count them on our own. So I said ok, and we laid them out on the table in rows of 20. But once he saw how many we had, he said, “Ok, follow me,” and turned the auto ticket counter on for us long enough to count the tickets and for Homer to choose his prizes. Then he turned it off again. He said it was off because it had kept breaking down, and he needed to get it fixed, but since it wasn’t like crowded (we were the only ones there!), he felt ok turning it on just for us. So that was cool! Homer chose a packet of candies, and a little rubber smiley figure. He was pretty happy with everything!

2018 Catch the Moment – Week 10

I am a bit behind and posting this late, so I’m going to skip the usual intro and head straight into the photos!

064 | Mon, March 5 ~ Mondays often find me working on my bullet journal and today was no exception. I just particularly liked how my March calendar turned out – it was really fun to make!

2018 Catch the Moment – Week 8

This week features mostly animals! Which is fitting, because I’m pretty sure it was International Love Your Pet Day or something? I don’t know. I saw some hashtags, but I don’t know which day it was. So I got some shots of pets, some selfies, and I even got to try something new with my Canon this week during a special photo shoot. Yay! Here are the photos…

050 | Mon, Feb 19 ~ It was really amazing watching Tess Virtue and Scott Moir win the gold for Ice Dancing! Yay Canada! They did such a great job.

2018 Catch the Moment – Week 5

It’s been a very hard week in our neck of the woods. The week started out fine, like any other, and then life hit us with a wholly unexpected curveball. And now we grieve the loss of our sweet kitty, Tails. I’m still just shocked, and of course, terribly sad, too. In a time when the world feels like it’s been knocked off its axis, I’m grateful for friends who’ve reached out, for hugs, for family, and for photography. Taking photos, learning about editing, leaning into my camera… those have been a support too, something to fill the space where words cannot be found.

Here are this week’s photos…

029 | Mon, Jan 29 ~ After such a somber intro, I feel a little silly posting Monday’s photo, but here it is: Gru! Homer and I built an early birthday present of his from his Auntie Maria and Abuela. It’s like Lego, but it’s MegaConstrux, and this one is Minion themed. It was a lot of fun to put together with Homer.
