Well, there’s a new doggie addition to our home, a teeny fox terrier/pomeranian mix named Petal. I LOVE HER!! Ashton is also a sweet little lovely dog, and he’s doing great with her and adjusting to life with an energetic baby dog around. It’s pretty awesome! I also worked on a project called Everyday Smiles, where we gathered photos of anything and anyone who makes us smile. That’s mostly what this collection is. Enjoy the photos! (There are 24 of them, so they’re behind the cut!)
It’s been a long time since I did a Day in the Life project. I used to be part of a few online communities that did them quite often, but that was years ago, so I have really missed seeing them. I think they’re so cool! DITL projects are like a mini documentary of your day, and I love getting to see glimpses into everyone else’s days, too. It just makes me happy. I think it’s because it makes me feel like we’re all connected, all going about our daily lives.
So imagine my excitement when I saw the new challenge over at Recapture Self to do a Day in the Life Project!
I finally did mine yesterday, and here are my photos from the day…
First, a collage of a few morning shots. This is how I wake up lately! Me in my CPAP mask (always; I never sleep a night without it), little boy snuggled behind me, dog snuggled between his and my legs, and husband next to us, too (not pictured). I have a new mug of water and my daily medication (Vit D and Zoloft for anxiety), too.

I really love my new DSLR, but I don’t always have it with me. Most of us usually have our smartphones close by, though, in our pockets or purses. (Except for my mom – she’s still rockin’ her flip phone! And writing checks at the grocery store, too. She actually told a cashier the other day, “I know, I’m a dinosaur!” Ha! Love you, Mom!!).
So while I’m not a huge expert on photography or anything, I have read a lot and taken classes and practiced with photographer friends, too, and I thought it would be cool to share a few tips I’ve learned along the way that might help my fellow beginner photographers out there, too!
Can I just say how excited I am? I am really excited! I just got my first DSLR!! My wonderful husband got it for me, after I’d been jonesing for one for a while now. Especially since I took my first photography class this spring. It was called Momtography, put on by Beryl Ayn Young. I’m glad that I still have access to all the videos, because I’m still re-watching them, and learning more. Anyway, I was able to practice the steps in that class with the help of my wonderful sis in law, Cinnamon, who loaned me her camera, a Canon Rebel T5i! I loved it! And when I went researching to see what I might want to get for myself, I saw there were a few newer models in that same line. So, Joe got me the Canon EOS Rebel T6i, and it’s pretty rad. I look forward to taking and sharing a lot of pictures from it!
Even Homer is excited about learning more about photography, because the other day, he said excitedly, “Mama, let’s go out and take pictures of nature together!” So I got my new camera, and he took his iPad, and here are some of the images we took on our outing together!

Hello, Happy Spring, and how are you?? Where did we last leave off? Oh yes I believe I was writing about how I was all caught up on my photo posts! Apparently I was so excited, I got carried away celebrating with a raucous party, there were chandeliers and those champagne glass towers and ice sculptures and acrobats, and next thing I knew, five months had passed!
Ok, not really, in reality, time just passes by like some sneaky ninja and I don’t even realize how much of it has passed until it has already gone past! And I don’t mean like the sneaky kind of ninja that my pets think they are when they hide only one part of their body and think I can’t see them. Like an actual stealth creature that I have no idea is whooshing past me.
I guess it’s not fair to say that I had NO idea. I mean, I realize time passes.
…Ok, so! Moving on, in the direction of something resembling a point, I’ll say this ~
