Catch the Moment 2018 ~ Week 34

This week started out with smoke filling the air, from the rampant wildfires to the East and North of us. These fires seem more and more common each year, and honestly, it just weighs on me so much thinking about the potential implications of what this could mean for our future. The air quality index was anywhere from 190 – 220, rated worse than the air in some of the world’s most polluted cities, like Beijing. Headlines read Breathing Seattleā€™s air right now is like smoking 7 cigarettes.

Photos showing the thickness of the smoke were unreal. I just don’t ever want this to be our new normal. It’s so sad and scary.

Luckily, we got some rain, things calmed down some, and the air quality improved. Best of all, we got some awesome visitors, and had some awesome celebrations! So the week improved greatly during the last half! Here are the photos ~

Mon, Aug 20 ~ the skies turned yellow from the smoke and the sun and its reflection look really red. It was eerie.

Luckily, these two cute fellas were there to entertain me and take my mind off the smoke-pocalypse.

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 33

I love when summer can be slow and lazy, at least a bit, and that’s kind of how this week went. It was pretty laid back this week, so here’s a glimpse of our pretty regular, ordinary life!

Mon, Aug 13 ~ So I went to the doctor and as suspected, I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand. It’s super annoying. And painful! Wrist brace and anti inflammatories for a few weeks and then we’ll see if I need to see the hand specialist people after that.

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 32

This week, Joe went back to work, and Homer and I went back to lazing about at home. Except not really, because we had doctor’s appointments and parties to attend, and ice cream to go out and buy, so it was a mildly busy week for us. Take a look ~

Mon, Aug 6 ~ Monday was eye appointments for both Homer and me. This was Homer getting an Optimap photo taken, which is a large detailed photo of the eye. I thought it looked cool, so I took a photo of him and his giant eye next to him. That is not the final photo, btw, just a guide to make sure his eye is in the right spot! It was pretty fascinating.

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 31

Mon, July 30 ~ After staying in Butte, Montana, we drove all the way through the top of Idaho and then stayed in Spokane overnight. Homer and I had gotten all dressed in our swimsuits, walked down to the first floor and looked next to the fitness room. The pool was mysteriously absent. I suddenly realized we hadn’t been to the pool the night we stayed in Spokane last time. We were at the same hotel, which we nicknamed Hogwart’s for its awesome spires and Hogwart’s-esque aesthetic:

(this photo not taken by me)

I asked at the front desk, and sure enough – no pool at that hotel. Oops! Homer was really disappointed, naturally, so I tried to help him feel better by showing him around the fitness room, which he liked, and then I showed him the stationary bike, which he thought was awesome! He rode one mile on it, before we headed back upstairs to get back into normal clothes and play some video games instead. We also took a shower in the epic shower we had!! This thing had a great shower head, and jets, which were all adjustable separately. It was insane and amazing, and I loved it. I also let Homer just play around in it a bit, and enjoy getting sprayed by the jets for a bit after he got clean. Not quite as great as a pool, but still fun!

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 30

Mon, July 23 ~ Monday was water park day! After visiting with Mama T in the morning, we headed on over. At first I just thought we were heading to a little splash pad / spray park, but once we got there, I realized it was a full-on water park and I hadn’t even brought my swimsuit. So I ran to Target and got a new one that I really love! Then I was able to get into the 4 ft wading pool with Homer, and ride the kiddie water slides, and it was a ton of fun. I loved snapping some shots of the kids. Here’s one of Winnie!
