Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 25

It was the last week of school for Homer, the start of Summer Vacation, the start of Summer itself, and a lot of just regular life stuff! Take a look ~

Mon, June 18 ~ Homer really wanted to go to the arcade at the neighborhood bowling alley after school. The employee said the ticket counter was broken and we’d have to count them on our own. So I said ok, and we laid them out on the table in rows of 20. But once he saw how many we had, he said, “Ok, follow me,” and turned the auto ticket counter on for us long enough to count the tickets and for Homer to choose his prizes. Then he turned it off again. He said it was off because it had kept breaking down, and he needed to get it fixed, but since it wasn’t like crowded (we were the only ones there!), he felt ok turning it on just for us. So that was cool! Homer chose a packet of candies, and a little rubber smiley figure. He was pretty happy with everything!

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 24

This was the week of double photos! I got a bit off track when choosing photos, and long story short, I ended up with more photos than usual. Bonus photos, if you will! Anyway, it was a good week, for the most part. Summer has arrived! It’s getting warmer and sunnier, and there are a mere four days of school left for Homer. Exciting! And now for the photos ~

Mon, June 11 ~ This little guy has been enjoying car rides way more than he used to! It’s so cute how amped up he gets, often giving many glances over to the car as I take him on walks each day. Ashton walks along, then looks at the car, then at me, as if to say, “Are we going??” He was happy the answer was yes on Monday when I brought him with us to go pick up Joe from work. They looked so cute together when Ashton just jumped into Homer’s lap!

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 23

Intros to these weekly photo posts are the hardest things to write. So, how about we just dive in? On to the photos!! ~~

Mon, June 04 ~ I had asked Homer to participate in a kids’ writing contest, the kid version of the one I love participating in called LJ Idol. He was not interested at first. After asking daily for a few days and always getting similar reluctance, I finally said, “I mean, you never know, maybe if you finish all the weeks, you might even get a prize. And it’s only 4 weeks! So 4 stories. I think you’ll enjoy it.”

He said, “Really? A prize? Like a banana split all to myself???”

“Uhm… Yeah, sure!” I said.

He did say it was more fun than he thought it would be, so maybe he took away at least a fraction of the love for writing that he has always had for banana splits!
Good job writing all 4 stories, Homer!

Catch the Moment 2018 – Week 22

It was a mix of busy and relaxed this week! Mostly just the usual ups and downs of everyday life, with a few unexpected events (party and sports!), a tiny scare from our tiniest pet, and some calm, rainy days spent reading and playing video games. Joe has been recovering from his really nasty cold virus he’s been fighting, and we all can’t wait until he’s better. Homer and I got in some play time, and some relaxation time, and even some writing time, for both of us!

And now, onto the photos ~

Mon, May 28 ~ Well first of all, I hope everyone had a lovely Memorial Day with their families. I saw Homer’s Memorial Day booklet at the end of the day. They’d done it in school on Friday, and this was the last page. “Normal stuff.” He cracks me up! He turned out to be exactly right, too, he spent the majority of the day playing video games while Joe and I took turns napping, reading, or watching tv. A nice, quiet day.
