2018 Catch the Moment – Week 5

It’s been a very hard week in our neck of the woods. The week started out fine, like any other, and then life hit us with a wholly unexpected curveball. And now we grieve the loss of our sweet kitty, Tails. I’m still just shocked, and of course, terribly sad, too. In a time when the world feels like it’s been knocked off its axis, I’m grateful for friends who’ve reached out, for hugs, for family, and for photography. Taking photos, learning about editing, leaning into my camera… those have been a support too, something to fill the space where words cannot be found.

Here are this week’s photos…

029 | Mon, Jan 29 ~ After such a somber intro, I feel a little silly posting Monday’s photo, but here it is: Gru! Homer and I built an early birthday present of his from his Auntie Maria and Abuela. It’s like Lego, but it’s MegaConstrux, and this one is Minion themed. It was a lot of fun to put together with Homer.

030 | Tues, Jan 30 ~ Here’s Amy! It’s kind of an odd angle (sorry if it seems too much like “look at my lizard’s butt!”), but I kind of like how it turned out, so here. Look at my lizard’s butt! 😉 ~

031 | Wed, Jan 31 ~ My Uncle Don, Mom, and I went to the Chihuly Glass Museum in Tacoma, and it was incredible. Here are a couple shots:

032 | Thurs, Feb 1 ~ Then Wednesday night I noticed Tails just didn’t seem himself. Thursday afternoon we went to the vet, who sent us to the emergency vet, then we got the terrible news that he had advanced Lymphoma, and even with treatment, wasn’t given much time at all. So even though it is always a heartbreaking decision to make, we decided to let him go. This is our last photo with him.

033 | Fri, Feb 2 ~ I didn’t do much of anything on Friday. At night, after Homer went to bed, I snapped this photo of Ashton sleeping with him. These two are so cute together.

034 | Sat, Feb 3 ~ Saturday, Homer and I headed Mom’s place and met up with Garth, Cinnamon and Allister. We were there to celebrate Mom’s birthday! I am happy I got this photo of Mom with her sweet dog, Layla.

035 | Sun, Feb 4 ~ And here’s a photo for the prompt from the Catch the Moment facebook group, Reflection…

And, that’s all I’ve got for now. Be well, everyone! ❤

  1. I am still so sorry about Tails Meghan. My heart just breaks and words can’t describe how much I feel and wish I could help. Am so grateful you have so many amazing photos to remember him by and know he had such a wonderful amazing happy life with you guys.

That MegaConstrux is so neat. The glass is so pretty and unique too!

    1. Thank you Angie! That means a lot. It’s starting to feel easier. There are some good moments now mixed in with the sadness. Healing takes ages. It’s a tough road, but support from kind people helps, so thanks!

Thanks about the other photos, too. The glass museum is super worth it if you ever get the chance to see it, and if you like that kind of art!
