I LOVE Day in the Life Projects!!! I just completed one for yesterday in March 2014. And I just thought it’d be fun to post the last DITL sets I did, too. All writing and photos are from July 2011. Homer was only 5 months old, and we’d only lived in our Thousand Oaks rental condo for a couple weeks…. (VERY picture intensive, so may take some time to load!)
Written July 2011:

A lot of times when you do a DITL project, you want the day to be fun and interesting. Well, life with a baby is unpredictable and demanding in very repetitive ways. This day did not turn out at all like I’d planned! Anyway, here’s a glimpse into a day in my life these days…
I didn’t take pics of me waking or Homer’s first diaper change, because he was super fussy and upset. The day starts with…
Or Nursing Session #3, technically. He had a late night, didn’t go to bed until 2am! This app tracks his feedings. I time how long he eats and on which side, and record it.
Uh oh, the last of the cat food.
Time for Patches’ insulin shot!
Apparently this is what I’m wearing. I look crazy today! haha!
Homer! I had just put Homer down for a minute in his bassinet.
Ah, new diaper, yay! Diaper change #2 of the day.
Daddy saying bye to us. Not pictured: him kissing me bye for the day.
Have a good day at work, baby!
This is the view leaving Joe’s work. Very different from the much more urban area we used to live in! We didn’t even move all that far from there, just like 40 miles away, but there’s a super different feel to everything here.
Homer is not amused by being awoken. He always falls asleep in the car!
Got him all perfectly snuggled into the Moby. Time to donate some books!
And… it’s closed. *sigh* All right, fine. Everyone back in the car.
Next stop, let’s use the stroller this time.
Homer gets to stay asleep and his carseat goes right into the stroller.
Got just a few things. Cereal, bananas, and cat food!
The tree right outside my home. So pretty!
Probably not going to keep napping, huh?
Our bedroom, where Homer’s “napping” in his bassinet
The kitchen, still needs unpacking
Time for breakfast, so I heat up some egg and sausage Lean Pockets
Only a few minutes have gone by, so I check again and… yeah, he’s definitely not napping! haha!
So I put him in his high chair for a little bit while I eat, and we hang out in the living room.
Baby Moustachio says, “Time for a time-a check-a!” (This is a screen cap from my phone, this is my usual wallpaper, and how I check the time regularly)
Diaper leakage means diaper change (#3) AND wardrobe change!
Ah, there we go. Froggy shirt!
The instant I sat him up, he spat up all over me, so I changed his clothes again. Tails watched.
Chatted on my phone a bit with friends.
Time to take care of some business and pay my student loan
Homer’s chilling out on the couch right next to me, with Sofie the Giraffe
Time check brought to you by Patches
Time for a change of scenery, so we went to the bedroom
Omg he’s finally napping, so I’m going to, too!!
Woke up on my own a couple hours later, time check by Baby Moustachio!
Time for lunch! Made a peanut butter and banana sandwich mmmm. But didn’t eat it yet. Waiting until I nurse Homer!
And time for a little home improvement project too. Drawer, before.
Let’s run it with detergent and see if it helps!
Okay, he’s not awake, but I’m starving. I’m eating!!!
Let’s see if I can fix these cabinets now.
Okay you kitties are NOT HELPING.
He’s finally beginning to stir.
A very sleepy diaper change. (#4)
This is what the baby’s room currently looks like. We’re still unpacking.
Wardrobe change! (#3) I got milk all over my shirt while nursing.
After! Okay, that doesn’t look any better actually. I’ll fix that later..
This is the walkway outside of my place
There’s the pool! That’s just across the street from my building.
And now it’s time to go get Daddy!
This is me, stylin’ while I wait for my hubby. Joe always calls me “Kanye” when I wear these, haha!
Actually, Homer’s ready to eat some more. (#5)
We got out of the car to wait at the picnic table
Getting Homer back into the carseat
Half-watching a little “Eureka” while talking to and smiling at Homer
Homer in his high chair watching us (I’d rather he watch us than the tv, so I make goofy faces at him the whole time and try to get him smiling)
Obviously we got Frosties, too. Can’t go to Wendy’s and not get Frosties! 😉
Tails chilling in Joe’s arms during dinner
And Homer chilling in mine. And eating. (#6)
Patches says WTF! Poor Patches. We’re trying to teach him to be gentle, but he’s so little!
Playing with the burp towel. He loves towels!
He wanted to nurse again. (#7)
Once again, time for Patches’s insulin
Putting him down. Maybe now it’s time for sleep.
Tails loves resting in the baby’s stuff, chair, crib etc.
Patches prefers the rocking chair.
Oops nope he’s awake. Okay diaper change #7
Wardrobe change #4.. ? I’m losing count!
Chew time in the high chair with Sofie the giraffe
While Mommy and Daddy watch Warehouse 13 and smile and play with Homer
Okay. I think he’s really going to sleep this time.
You really can’t tell, but I swear this kitchen had some work done. I unpacked a whole box!
Time to get into pajamas. Wardrobe change #3. 4? I dunno.
And getting back to work, writing an article
Watching a little Law & Order, too. Finally turn off the tv and JUST write for a while.
All right! Done writing for the night!
My view to the right – my little boy still sleeping soundly in his bassinet next to my side of the bed
My view to the left, my sweet hubby (wearing his CPAP machine) right next to me.
Time for me to sleep too! And that was a day in my life. Hope you enjoyed it! Goodnight!!

Well there you have it! A day in my life in 2011. Now we’re in a new city, new state, our sweet Patches is no longer with us, and Homer is practically a different person he’s changed so much! Though he still makes the same faces and we still love him to an impossible degree. That will never change. I’m kind of relieved that these days, there aren’t so many diaper or outfit changes though. 😉

That tree outside of your place was so cute! So is his little froggy face shirt n…n That store you went to? Vons? I’ve never heard of it. Is it a California thing?
Thanks! And yep, Vons is a California grocery store. That, and Ralph’s, are the major grocery stores in L.A.
